 Community and Special Events

In addition to hosting its own airport-related special events, ONT supports its communities by sponsoring and participating in selected aviation-related community events. The division's involvement includes staffing exhibits and publicizing events that tie into the airport's activities and help increase awareness of ONT's airline flight availability, passenger services, community outreach and educational programs.

Affiliations with Chambers of Commerce/Civic Organizations

The Friends of Ontario Airport

The Friends of Ontario Airport is one of the most unique organizations in aviation. The Friends is a non-profit organization founded in the early 1960’s by local community and business leaders who believed in the economic vitality of LA/Ontario International Airport (ONT) and the crucial benefits it provides to the area’s transportation network.

As a nonpartisan, nonsectarian organization, the Friends of Ontario Airport unites people of all backgrounds into a special group with a common interest in aviation, and in the development and growth of ONT for the benefit of all persons.

The Friends play an important role in the airport community. They have taken a leadership role in informing the public of the aviation services available at ONT, seeking additional air carrier service, encouraging citizen support of the airport, and working with aviation industry officials toward the goal of making ONT one of the most convenient air transportation centers on the West Coast.

The Friends welcome membership from individuals, companies, public agencies and organizations who share their love of aviation and views on the essential need to support the growth of ONT.

Through membership and fundraising, the Friends help other friends in the community including Travelers Aid of the Inland Empire and disadvantaged children from the Hero Club in Ontario.

The Friends meet every other month at ONT to see old Friends, meet new Friends, and learn invaluable information about the aviation industry through guest speakers. The Friends also take behind-the-scenes tours of the airport and group field trips to other aviation related facilities in the area.

Individual dues are $15 per year. Company and organization dues are $25 per year. For more information on joining the Friends of Ontario Airport, call (909) 544-5360.

Founded in 1984 as a program of Travelers Aid Society of Los Angeles, Travelers Aid of the Inland Empire is the leading agency in the city of Ontario providing assistance to stranded individuals and families. In 1992, Travelers Aid of the Inland Empire became an independent non-profit agency.

  • What Travelers Aid Does

The mission of Travelers Aid is to provide information and referral services at LA/Ontario International Airport (ONT) and to assist stranded travelers, reuniting them with their families and other resources.

To meet the goal of serving those in need, Travelers Aid provides comprehensive case management services to all of its clients. The philosophy of Travelers Aid is to work with people in crisis by developing a case plan aimed at reuniting them with their families and resources. Those seeking assistance are fully evaluated to determine their specific need and problems. A case aid then works with the individual(s) and follows through until those needs are met. Staff and volunteers from the community implement the following programs:

  • Crisis intervention and referral services are available for individuals and families who are stranded in the Inland Empire. Travelers Aid meets the need of individuals and families with acute transition problems.

  • Travel assistance is provided for individuals and families who are stranded in the Ontario, San Bernardino or Riverside area and have an appropriate support system at their destination.

  • Emergency services are available on those occasions where the need is great. Travelers Aid provides food, transportation and temporary lodging.

  • Information and referral services are provided to the traveling public at LA/Ontario International Airport.
