The LAX Community Relations Division develops and implements ongoing community outreach programs designed to optimize effective two-way communications with various publics.

A key focus of the division is establishing programs and services that address the needs and concerns of surrounding airport communities through opportunities such as youth programs, aviation education, volunteerism, and community and civic participation. In addition, the division handles liaison activities with community-based organizations and oversees public agency-private industry partnerships.

Using a positive, proactive approach to providing meaningful public involvement opportunities, the division's work reflects Los Angeles World Airports' (LAWA's) commitment to balancing the need for regional economic growth with the needs of residential communities.

To establish and maintain strong partnerships with our communities.

LAX’s outreach efforts as a vested and contributing member of the surrounding communities include collaborative partnerships and educational programs, business outreach. Many of our programs are free and open to the public.

LAX Community Relations is a member and supporter of several local Chambers of Commerce, including El Segundo, Culver City, Inglewood/Airport Area, LAX Coastal and Hawthorne, in order to foster strong partnerships and stay connected with communities in the LAX area.
The division also holds membership with civic and service organizations like the Rotary and Kiwanis Clubs, and is involved with supporting many non-profits in the LAX area including the USO at LAX, Airport Marina Counseling Center, St. Margaret’s and Westchester YMCA.

LAX Community Relations Division is heavily focused on establishing and maintaining strong partnerships by supporting local events of the businesses and stakeholders in the areas surrounding LAX.
Another aspect of the division’s business outreach is through the Business & Job Resources Center (BJRC) {please hyperlink Business & Job Resources Center to its website), which is housed in the Community Relations Division. The BJRC is committed to the shared economic interests of Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA), its tenants, local businesses and the communities impacted most by LAWA’s projects and activities. That commitment is centered on helping job seekers, emerging business enterprises and student interns navigate and access the promising employment, contracting and work experience opportunities that LAWA has to offer.

We have several educational outreach programs that introduce our future generation to the world of aviation and business. Aviation Careers Education (ACE) Academy is a fun interactive aviation summer camp geared towards middle and high school students who are interested in a career associated with aviation and aerospace. Job Shadow Day is dedicated to giving young people in the neighborhoods adjacent to LAX the job shadowing experience.
Other educational programs that LAX Community Relations also participates include Read Across America Day, Speakers Bureau, LAX Airport Tours, Flight Path Learning Center and Loyola Marymount University.

To share the good news about LAX’s outreach efforts as a vested and contributing member of the community, the online newsletter, LAX Community UPdates, was created. Produced on a quarterly-basis, the newsletter highlights the educational programs, tours, community partnerships, new airport developments and event sponsorship the Division takes part in. We also have social media accounts on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, which highlight our outreach in the community.
