Frequently Asked Questions about LAWA's Procurement Process
 

1. Does LAWA buy what I sell? 

LAWA procures over $500 million a year of goods, materials, and services to maintain efficient operation of its network of airports at Los Angeles (LAX), Ontario (ONT), Van Nuys (VNY), and LAWA-Palmdale Land Holdings (PMD). 2. Which divisions buy what I sell? 

Which division you should contact depends on the kinds of products and/or services you sell:

  • Procurement Services Division purchases materials, supplies, equipment, construction services and non-professional services.

  • Airports Development Division manages the procurement for major construction projects.

  • Commercial Development Group administers the food/beverage, specialty-retail, car rental, leases, and other real estate programs.

  • Other LAWA divisions purchase professional/technical and personal services.

3. How do I learn about current bids? 

LAWA advertises its request for bids and proposals through the following sources:

4. Are there forms to fill out? 

Yes. Which form(s) to complete depends on the amount and type of bid. Information on which form(s) to complete will be specified on the RFB or RFP document. Please also see Administrative Requirements.

5. How do I get my name on the list for future business opportunities? 

Los Angeles Business Assistance Virtual Network: Persons desiring to be notified of business opportunities should complete a free registration on www.labavn.org. Registration assistance is available at (424) 646-7392.

Procurement Services Division: Prospective vendors may also visit the Procurement Office, 7301 World Way West, 4th Floor, Los Angeles, CA 90045 on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. (no appointment necessary).

6. Can I be present when the bids are opened? 

Yes. Bids valued between $10,000 - $25,000 do not have formal public openings, but do have stated opening dates and times, usually on Thursdays, 2:00 p.m. at the Procurement  Office. Bids valued at greater than $25,000 have a formal public opening and have stated opening dates and times.

7. How do I learn about bid results? 

Bid results of all bids can be obtained through the www.labavn.org. Bid tabulation sheets are also available for public inspection at the Procurement Office.

8. May I inspect the bids? 

After an award of contract is made, bid recap sheets of informal awards (less than $25,000) are available to the public for inspection at the Procurement Office, formal bids (over $25,000), may be reviewed on request.
